From where ever you are in the country south of Newcastle you will need to work your way to the A1 and once on this road head North.

Take the A19 (signposted for Teeside), you will be on this road for around 1 hour.

Travel through the Tyne Tunnel (please note there is a small charge for travelling through the tunel so have some change ready). Once through the tunnel again take the A19 till you reach the roundabout, here you will need to turn off and take the A1058 to Tynemouth.

Follow this road right down to the seafront roundabout.

At this roundabout turn left, follow the coast for about 2 miles and you will see the Esplanade Hotel on the left hand side, just past the tennis courts.
